I needed something sturdy with a fairly descent tone, and have found this instrument to be sufficient.This whistle is more sensitive and less forgiving than my bamboo whistle. If you do not fully cover a hole, or you blow a bit too hard on the low notes, you will know immediately as this whistle will make an annoying squawk. Because of its sensitivity, it is helping me learn better breath control, and keeps me more conscious of my finger pressure. The holes in this whistle are pea sized or smaller which makes it much easier for people like me, with small hands and fingers, to play. This might make it an excellent choice for a child's whistle as their small fingers would be able to easily cover the holes. I am a complete beginner at playing the tin whistle (I play the flute and piccolo) but it was easy to learn. The fingerings are similar to a flute. I bought this in Ireland along with another one for my friend. They were pretty tuned to each other and we have a lot of fun playing them together. |
