The over-all tone is as expected. The highs aren't very "airy" at all and it seems very very controlled. When first purchased it had some debris porcelain around the holes (inside), but this is easily fixed using something long and soft (I used the ink tube of a pen). There was also a pretty major pile of dried porcelain in the tail that took a lot of effort to clean, but none the less.... it cleaned up great. The finish is fantastic (I got the white crackled finish), but the glazing requires some.... post-purchase finishes... there were a lot of bubbles in the glaze that just needed to be buffed out with a rag, but now it mine's pretty much perfect. Around the thumb holes there isn't glaze (maybe 1cm around them), but I'm not extremely nitpicky and can't say it's going to really affect anything at all.TL;DR- Great product, but needs some post-purchase finishing. I was wrong. the ocarina has a nice smooth tone, and has been fairly pleasant to listen to. I'm not a musician so i couldn't tell you if the notes are accurate, but if it makes you feel better "mary had a little lamb" sounded on key XD I also liked the case that came with it, and all in all i will probably buy another one for my roommate next year :) |
