It definitely feels solid and well constructed. The legs and bell support lock in such a way that they would never just collapse. It is very small when folded up, and feels lighter then my old Hamilton when you hold each in a hand. And yet, it feels way more sturdy stable then the Hamilton. I bought this after purchasing a Hercules Bari stand that I liked a lot (reviewed at [...]) I have one major concern about the stand, though. When you place the horn on the stand, the main support that holds the horn has about an inch of forward and backward play in it. That makes me really nervous. Especially when you have people on a gig that have no appreciation for the delicateness of a 40 year old saxophone. I tried contacting the Hercules company through the contact form on their website to ask them if this was the intended design. I have received no response... I only use the stand at home and if the sax were hit by someone else, I could see it falling, but I think that is a problem with any stand. The clarinet stand is also great if you need it. I wish I'd had that back in high school! Over all I gave it 5/5 stars. I'd buy it again and recommend it to a friend. |
