I received the book and flutophone today. I started playing it right away. I have an alto recorder, soprano recorder, standard closed hole flute, Yamaha fife, and a piccolo. It plays an octave plus one from c". I'm going to experiment to see if I can extend the range. The book has the method for playing this instrument. I think that the book is really good for someone who is just learning to read music. I already know how to read, so I'll just play the cute little tunes inside. The mouth piece comes off for cleaning. It's a cute little chromatic instrument. I will purchase an ocarina next. Have fun with this instrument. I know that I will!

I bought this Flutophone Package so I could play another instrument similar to the clarinet before actually playing it. But when I received it, I realized it was just plastic. It sounded somewhat real, but it didn't look or feel real at all. If you want to encourage kids to play music, I'd suggest buying a real flutophone somewhere else or buying a recorder. Neverless, the Flutophone Method Book is a fun, educational, and high-rated guide to playing the flutophone.
