Got this stand so I'd have somewhere to put my flute during ensemble practice besides on the music stand. It's surprisingly stable for as small as it is. It does indeed fold up small enough to fit inside the footjoint of a flute, and the legs are flocked so they won't scratch. After extending the legs to their full length, you screw down the peg (part w/the yellow top) and the whole thing becomes very steady. Have used it successfully both at home & at ensemble practice with no trouble. Would definitely recommend!
